End of a Beginning

Or is it a Beginning towards (happy) End?  Or is it both of them? Oh, I’m not certain.

These days, when I think of my (future) life after marriage, I don’t know whether it’s going to be the end of my always-be-happy, individual & don’t-care-anything bachelorhood that begun a long back or it’s going to be the beginning of a new life with caring, loving, and sharing which are indispensable in life towards the happy end.

I’m not sure whether every guy may feel the same before his/her marriage.  But one thing is for sure.  Right now, I’m not the only one on this earth feeling the same.  I’ve company.

Seems to be more philosophical, right? I know it doesn’t suit me well… But I just thought of penning down what’s in my mind.

Acid test

1 more… it’s the 5th one that undergone acid test in my plant… like all my earlier trousers and shirts, this blue Levi Strauss 511 also failed to pass and it all looks like a big fat rat has taken it granted for a nice yummy evening dish… when I saw the mint… sorry pant with hole for the 1st time, I thought of slapping myself at least twice and kicking my butt thrice… but as both of them are technically impossible in practice, I thought of punishing myself by not using my wardrobe (I wonder, if it really exists) for office work… don't use ur dirty mind, it's uniform pants to office…

couple of weeks went well… but then I noticed one can’t live on earth by simply waving his hands in air all the time… we, south Indians, need to keep our hands in our pant side pockets at least some time in a day; that’s the style we follow from childhood, and we can’t help ourselves if our pants don’t have side pockets… that’s exactly what happened with my office pants… no side pockets (damn designer)… only 2 back pockets one of them occupied by my always empty wallet and the other one houses two mobiles… while sitting on chair… I feel like a beam fixed at both ends by hinges and carrying a uniform load in the middle (if u can recall strength of materials subject in engg)… due to which it got deflected by 15ยบ angle from horizontal axis… tough to imagine if u don’t know the concept, but trust me, it’s even tougher bearing the pain… so result is again back to my regular wardrobe…

So now comes the question… why am I telling u this damn story… because… I got 6th one today!! God blessed me!!!

APRSc

Last fortnight, we had a good time as mom, dad & prasanth stayed here in PUNE for a 10 day period.  Almost every evening, we enjoyed chatting till late night about our childhood, education, daily routines, my marriage plans etc.  Plenty of things got my attention which should have been in my blog already.

One of them is my short stint in APRSc in 8th class.  It is one of the prestigious (at that time) schools chain in AP run by AP government.  Somehow I got selected.  The “somehow” has a specific meaning here because really I could not believe myself when I came to know about my selection as my school topper Kishore not being selected.  Obviously I was on a high.  I don’t think I walked on earth that day!!!

This was the first time (and the last time too) I got a chance to say that I’m no more second to Kishore.  We didn’t discuss about this guy, na… Kishore is our school first in academics, quiz competitions and all other activities concerned to intelligent students including that damn school pupil leader position.  I was always 2nd and was jealous about that fact.  I hate being 2nd.  Rads (Read as Radhika, don’t want to tell you her name, we’ll have another blog for that story) was always behind Kishore, one more reason to hate him.

Once news was out, I became the hero.  After all, I’m the only one selected from my mandal/taluka (whatever u call).  I think, I lived up to the moment by maintaining that status.  New dresses, new shoes… what not buddy… all new… brand new… yeah he he he… Prasanth became jealous and burnt my new sandals… but who cares?!!!

One fine (can I call it fine?) morning, I joined there leaving my parents in my home town.  Oh no, I didn’t tell you na, this is a residential school, where your entire life sucks within those 4 damn walls.  1st day is bad.  But 2nd day is worse.  Better if we forget about other days.  I was completely down leaving my parents, friends and my jolly life over there.  Forget about gals, yaar.  Came to know that after 15 days, I may get one week holidays for home sick.  But how to survive 15days? I’ve written at least 20 letters (post cards that time) in those 15days to my parents asking (in fact pleading) them to get me out of that hell.  That is time I came to know that I can write (which can influence at least some poor people who believe in me).  1st time I came to know about home sick phenomenon also.  Dad worked hard to take me out of that hell, I can’t forget that effort.  At last when I came out of it, I feel like ufff… bach gaya saala…

Again joined in my old school, but not like a hero… zero? I don’t think so… anyway, I don’t remember those days much… but within 2 or 3 months itself, I think, I came out of that black period, thanks to… KAVS, new entry.  Rads out Kavs in!!!

PS: We’ll have a separate blog for KAVS too…

Non-Detail

Have u studied Non-Detail books along with ur regular text books in ur 10th, +2? I don’t know about CBSE, but in State syllabus, usually u’ll find these books.

Generally these books will contain a story or two in detail, having around 100 to 150 pages.  You’ll get plenty of marks (in ur end exam) from this book when compared to your regular language text book, grammar and etc.  In my studies, I had “The Merchant of Venice” written by Shakespeare & “The Moonstone”, a story about an Indian diamond stolen by an English Man and the journey thereafter.  These books were just like novels.

Now the point is, y’day, I got a doubt y these books are called as Non-Detail books?  As these are having more details of a story when compared to the stories in our ordinary text books, they need to be called as “Detail” books, isn’t it? I just wonder about what was in their mind while naming these? Do they think that these details are not enough to complete the story? Then how can they expect us to answer all those questions on the story?

Any how, my gut feeling is that these books need to be re-named as “Detail Books”; otherwise those authors’ souls won’t rest in peace…

Dance Class

Seedu joined dance classes… babhi maa joined, no? he had to… any way… but funny part is that he is asking me to join… me… dance class?? U r kidding, right?

Have u seen AB’s dance in Delhi 6… "Saas gaali deve"… song? Simple but gr8 steps, no? I’m practicing that number… I don't think I can do it... but lemme try...

Meetings

These days, I’ve been involved in so many meetings, design reviews and etc etc that I don’t find time to work even on the concepts decided in those meetings!!

But lemme tell u, meetings r invaluable yaar… u’ll find nice coffee, bikkis, sometimes samosas at ur table; u can take occasional naps, enjoy people fooling around … and haan… great moral support as a bonus!!!

Moral support??? Lemme explain, if u have any doubt that your thinking abilities have come down these days, just enter into any damn meeting, n spend ur quality (?) time over there; trust me at the end of the day, u’ll say hi to Einstein in the mirror!!!
(Inspired by “A Stranger in the mirror” title, but only by title, I don’t like that novel… Sydney Sheldon’s baddest one)

After experiencing a hell lot of bakwas meetings, I found couple of steps to be followed before, during and after meetings.

1. Never turn up early (of course, as an Indian u’ll turn up at least a good 15 minutes late, but still I warn u (wildly) guessing a foreign reader for my blog). Otherwise u will become “The chosen one” for writing those bloody MOMs (minutes of meeting).
Always keep in mind…”Early birds r vulnerable”
2. Place yourself in a remotest place in the hell… sorry hall; Beware!! They’re on a hunt for bakra(s) who’ll take up responsibility for each and every point.
3. Never act intelligent! Suggestions r best kept to urself only!!
If idea is yours, then implementation will (also) be yours!!!
4. Don’t laugh at their stupidity; they’ll feel u r a foreigner to this planet.
5. Never argue, u’ll become one of them. Just watch and njoy!! If u can’t bear, just take a nap.
6. Always leave meeting early…I don’t know the reasons… but I found it’s good.
7. Always ask somebody to call u when u r in the middle of meeting… that shows u r busy person…
8. Keep an eye on bearer for biscuits and chai… u must grab the first ones otherwise that moron may show you an empty plate…then u’ve to smile like a guy who smiles at his by-stander in the bus-stop after missing a bus in span of few seconds after running a good half kilo meter huffing and puffing.

SD once said: A meeting is a place where minutes are kept and hours are lost

I like it… it’s true… literally…
